The Colorado Shiners are a trailblazing team in the roller derby community, as they are the first BIPOC-only team in Colorado. The team was created to provide a safe space for BIPOC individuals to participate in the sport of roller derby. The team promotes inclusivity and diversity in roller derby, lowering the barriers that prevent people from participating and empowering individuals from marginalized communities through athleticism and camaraderie. The Colorado Shiners are essential to the state’s roller derby landscape and positively impact the community.
